OENOLOGY AND WINE
CELLAR REBULA


The farm Rebula is situated in Brestovica near Komen, a small village on the Karst Wine Road, close to the Slovene – Italian border. The farm Rebula dates back to 1900 and it has been more intensively engaged in viticulture and oenology since 1982. The whole estate, cultivated by the members of the Rebula family: Dušan, Vida, Martina and Roman Rebula, extends on the area of 5,2 ha. The vineyards occupy 1,8 ha, where 5000 vines are planted: 1000 vines of Malvazija, Vitovska Grganja and Sauvignon and 4000 vines of Refošk from which Teran, the most important product of the farm Rebula, is produced. The viticulture of the farm Rebula is based on the integrated methods.

THE QUEEN OF TERAN - MARTINA REBULA

In 2006 Martina Rebula became the first Queen of Teran, the harbinger of wine culture, Karst people, the colourful Karst landscape, ornated with vineyards, sumachs and pines, exhaling fragrance in the strong north-east wind - burja, of air-dried ham and Teran. The honourable title »the Queen of Teran« has had a great impact on the promotion of the farm Rebula and has meant a remarkable step forward towards the recognition of Rebula`s high-quality wines, farm products and its activities in Slovenia and abroad.

CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE

There is a considerable choice of cultural and natural heritage to visit in the surroundings of Brestovica on one`s own or guided by The association Brest – Turisticno društvo Brest Brestovica: a Karst valley –dolina with its characteristic sinkhole, the Grof cave, the Moritz and Bezen caverns, the church of St. Anastasia, the church of St. Lawrence, and the biggest Karst aqueduct. A walk along the trails of the Isonzo Front or a vivid chat with the local people about their life and village, accompanied by a glass of wine, is also a pleasant experience.
